About Me

I’m a Network Manager and Engineer with over twenty-five years of experience with small and large diverse networks. I have studied for and earned multiple certifications, including Cisco CCNA, CCNA Security, CCNP Routing & Switching, CCNP Design, Palo Alto Networks PCNSA & PCNSE, AWS, and ITIL.

I specialize in routing, switching, wireless, firewalls, network security, and high availability. I’m fortunate to have worked with many firewall products, including WatchGuard, SonicWall, Fortinet, Cisco ASA (with and without Firepower), and Palo Alto Networks. I have over nine years of experience with Palo Alto Networks firewall products, including hardware appliances, ESXi VMs, and AWS.

As a SCUBA, CPR, and First Aid instructor, I enjoy teaching. I have used this experience in combination with my professional experience to teach and help others in Information Technology products, technologies, and the IT field in general.

Packet Passers – Est. 2019

I created Packet Passers when I published my PCNSA certification study notes. Instead of flat notes, which I used for the past twenty-plus years of certifications, I made them in a test format. I was happy with how they turned out, so I made them publicly available. Soon after, I did the same with my PCNSE notes. Due to their success, I was encouraged to keep them updated and expand to this website.

Packet Passers’ name is mostly just a name, but I also associated the name with the tag line ‘we don’t dump here.’ The tag line states the practice tests are not brain or screen dumps, but my notes in a test format.
